Safeguarding is not only about preventing abuse. It's also about relationship ethics, power dynamics, and avoiding unintentional harm.
This is especially important when our aim is to work towards empowering young people, as there are many forms of behaviour - often unintentional – that undermine young people's sense of agency and thus are disempowering.
