Who do we define as young people?

This chapter addresses Safeguarding Young People Policy and includes a checklist for assessing your safeguarding policy and procedures.

Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG)'s vision and values  affords special rights and protections to all those under the age of 18. Within its own programmatic work and data collection, PPAG defines Young People as everyone aged 10 to 24, the age group with whom we work.

Safeguarding Young People Policy outlines a set of values and guiding principles that form the foundation of our safeguarding practices, and refers to documents that are part of the broader Integrity Framework

The Policy is more than just the document itself, among other things it also includes

  • Safe recruitment and screening processes
  • A Code of Conduct for all staff and volunteers
  • The Toolkit which outlines implementation
  • Regular training for staff and volunteers on safeguarding
  • A complaints and sanctions procedure and reporting system
